Not big on 18 kicks. Any advice on how to convert an 18 kick into a Floor Tom? :shock: :lol:
Makassar Ebony w/ Bubinga inner custom ordered 6pce. 8x8 10x10 12x12 14x16 18x16 14x6.5.
I first played this kit in '98, bought 2 days ago.
My 6yr old daughter (Makassar) asked if it was her first Sonor kit. :? First? Don't know where she gets that from. :roll: :lol:
Can't afford this, so other things have to go. :evil:

Remarkable kit, Jeff. 14x16 custom rack ordered with an 18 kick along with the ebony/bubinga combo?

Yes, I can advise on the conversion: sell the kick and use the proceeds to buy an 18 floor tom; easier to convert that into a kick than the other way around :? :lol:

The 14x16 is on legs and is standard depth for a Heavy sig Floor.
I wasn't interested in converting the kick, I was just having a bit of fun with you Jazz guys. Seriously though, I have no idea how anyone could use an 18in kick.
I can't imagine that sound being suitable for anything.
It has NO purpose at all other than compromising sound for convenience.. :shock: :lol:

Quite a score, Jeff.

Conversion to a floor tom is best accomplished by replacing the bass drum beater with a drumstick. :?

Keep the 18" kick; store the beater someplace where you can find it in a few years. Nobody ever sees an 18" kick coming, but then one day you wake up and you can't do without it.

If not, try Kelly. He's almost ready. ;)

Keep it Jeff... A kit like that is hard to find. Those are true jewels...

The fun I had with Cliff's Sig kit is something I'll treasure for a long, long time...

Trust me - an 18" doesn't take space, but sure is fun to play once in a while (if You're not into jazz)!!!!!!!

    I was confused by the relative appearance of the 12x. It looks enormous mounted on that kick.

    Bigger kicks are harder to control, but for rock who cares. Let 'em blow! Convenience is not really an issue until you start using an 18. Once you get used to it, even a 20 seems a little gauche. I love my 20 for its greater power, in situations where that's needed. I am profoundly grateful to have both.

When I saw Jeff's kit photo, my first thought was how nice an ebony Signature bop kit would be. My second thought was that the 12" would need to be cut to a 12x10 right away. ;)

Nice drums, but on a serious note could someone check the technical settings on this website, it appears that the photos are being shown in reverse, as if all the drums have been set up the wrong way round!

Jeff photographs all of his kits in a mirror.

I think it has something to do with Australians confusing 'upside down' with 'backwards'. :? :lol:
