... as you can see. But this is what a great lens can do in almost no light. People drag their bubinga into the sunlight to illuminate it, but a good lens collects all the light it needs.

Second photo is pulled back further so the depth of field is effectively broader, but you can tell it's still working hard.

Very nice. I have an awesome 19in Black Pearl Bosphorus. Quite similar to the masters vintage.

Gorgeous kit, Gregory. All you need is a Bass drum. :o

Yeah, yeah, yeah. ;)

Funny how our eyes can change, Jeff. My 20 now looks huge, and I view it with skepticism whenever I walk past.

I see the rubber bellows around the spurs have come awry. They're 20 years old and have lost a lot of their memory. It's a nuisance getting down and pulling the gaiters back over their feet. Which reminds me: I saw an elderly guy in church yesterday wearing shorts held up with a belt and suspenders.

Lovely looking drums. I must say that recently I've been enjoying playing my designers with a 22 bass drum, it's really rewarding to hear that low end sometimes

Thanks, Nick. I can understand what you're saying, and the big drums are cool that way. But they are also not nearly as expressive. The 18 seems to respond to the input of my foot more, and what sweet tone. Big boom is what my 20 does well, and if I need that, I know where exactly where to find it.

Yeah, its a pity you can't get 20in floor toms readily. I'd love that kinda bottom end in a tom to match a REAL bass drum.

Designer 22" bass drums were incredibly poor to me. Big disappointment.
The Designer 20x18 though is just an unbelievable drum. Literally sounds bigger than a lot of 22's. What a drum

Wouldn't it depend on what you are trying to express?

I like to goof off with big bass drums, 24's...would love to try a 26. But nothing serious. Can't really play with them. Dam things even slow my hands down.

Not sure what it was with the 22, but my experience is the same as yours... now that I think of it, my 20 IS the same as yours.

If "expressive" means saying one thing repeatedly.
