Took the teardrops apart to make them more roadworthy. Sanded them and this is where I am now. Have shellacked the inside, ready for the exteriors. The green pipes will enable me to spin them while applying shellac, and the plastic protects the interiors.

Fun! But my fingers are worn down by sanding and they hurt from grabbing all the metal bits.

Looking good so far.

Can you post a photo of the lug 'anti-rattle' solution as well. Someone will want to see that - after you have re-assembled the kit. :?

Were the ironing board and the ladder rack the prototypes for the development of the 'inside mount' work stands? :lol:

Those are gorgeous looking shells. I would image the shellac is really going to make them more vibrant.

Took the lugs off and there was a suggestion of powder that once was foam meant to hold the receiver nuts in position. Rather than mess with foam, I cut tubing to hold the nut in place. 56 frickin' little tubing pieces, each needing to be just the right size and not all wiggledy-wumpus the way rubber or plastic tubing always cuts.

Cute, huh. Tubing has to be just so long that the nut can't move inboard out of range of the incoming rod, and not so long that it is pushed to the outside of the lug. Tested every lug with a rod after reassembly, so now I know.
