Cliff, I love the way that 8",12" split looks from up top! And the "ergonomics" of the cymbal placement always make me grin. It looks like a kit that I could just jump on and groove away... Except I think Charlie would, um, gently suggest that I remove myself from the premises! |

Hey Ron, It really is a very ergonomic set-up for me. The key elements for me are not having frequently used cymbals require holding arm(s) high in the air, and dropping the height of the 8" so that it is about an inch below the 12" and leave space for my left hand to occupy when playing the 12" (with a traditional grip). Rides are low and close, but not so much that they interfere with th 12" to 14" path. Only issue is that mic placement on the 14"is a little tricky, trying to maximize off axis rejection of wash from under the ride, but it works ok, once it is sorted out. Usually the snare mic extends a little further towards the center of the drum than in this photo, and takes some getting used to, but I have done that. Here I was using an EC1 batter, and not as concerned about high frequencies from the edge. |

Thanks, Goki. The Constantinople hats are my absolute favorite. |
