Here's a simple solo I made up when testing my new Remo heads. This isn't a video, it's an audio recording.

Bass Drum: Remo clear Powerstroke 3 Black Dot/ Remo Clear Ambassador with mic hole cut. Foam pad muffling.

Snare Drums: Remo Fiberskin 3 Diplomat/ Remo Diplomat snare side.

Toms: Remo clear CS Black Dot top and bottom.

Sounds like blackdots, alright. Going for that damped percussive sound.

Really like that sound. Absolutely A+ Greg. I think the best sound for my ears I have heard from you. There is just gobs and gobs of tone in that clip. Everything sounds as close to perfect as I would want to be on a recording.
I am not convinced it's the heads, but who cares. I've tried those a few times and they sounded "thin" to me.
Whatever you are doing keep it up. And I always admire your playing.

Thanks Gregory and Kelly I appreciate it. I've finally reached the end of my searching for the perfect drumhead journey. I love this head combination I'm currently using, the only compromise would be a coated Ambassador for snare. :D

Hey Greg,

I can appreciate the sound for what it is, and I know that it is a great sound for Kelly, too.

I have heard you use heads and tunings that were more open, and that I liked better.

How do you feel about these heads/tunings, for the jazz stuff you are doing?

Thanks Cliff, for the jazz stuff I'd tune my current heads higher. The CS Dots to have an open sound when tuned correctly, the music I'm currently playing (screamo rock) doesn't sound good with an open tom sound. Steve Smith uses this head combo with his jazz band, they sound good because he tunes them up. Speaking of Steve, I'm going to be seeing him October 31st, can't wait!

All sounds pretty good to me, the snare especially with snares off I like a lot, sounds like you've got it tuned right up? Nice panorama of toms :D
