Well, I suppose I can let ya'll here my playing just messing around this particular day. What do you think of these drums? Teardrop 12x8 14x14 18x14 14x5 (that may be a different snare than the matching Sonor, not sure).

I love the sound of teardrops, though I have been ignoring mine for too long, since they haven't been really useful to me of late. I like mine a lot better in person than I do on the recordings I've made. They sound a bit thumpy when recorded, but live they are... well, more alive. The H4 doesn't seem to do them justice.

As you get toward the end of that recording, I begin to hear the kit melding, and it sounds really great in that last hurrah. :D :D :D

The usual questions: heads, tuning and mics? I'm not sure what you were saying about the snare, but I like it. 8-)

Thanks much for posting that file!

Hey Lane,

Yup, sounds like Saturday morning drums, coffee and recorder time, which I do a bit of myself.

I like the sound very much, and the palying is nice, loose and casual.

This with the zoom recorder?

Yes, Cliff, my old Zoom H2 recorder and I've yet to pay any attention to all the various settings which could possibly help. Considering that I'd say it gets a natural representative sound of drums and cymbals.

My 'fake' jazz playing, indeed. Don't really have too much experience with playing standards but have listened to it since the 70s.

Been a while since visiting, hope all is well!

BTW, this rosewood teardrop set might end up in the capable hands of a well respected drummer. If and when that happens I'll let you know, just to be on the lookout for them.
