Love Simon's playing in every setting. What I love most is that he uses "his" kit no matter what. Two kicks, 4 racks, 2 floors, etc everytime.

I suppose I should, but dont', know who he is. I've heard of, but never listened to, Toto or Judas Priest – two names I found by Googling. From the clip, he sounds a highly competent drummer, but I can't listen to that music for more than a minute. My failing, I'm sure.

Ah fantastic player, from The Who to Jeff Beck, great groove and pocket and so tasteful!
This stuff with Hiromi is excellent and check out the PSP trio, infectiously funky!
He's very versatile.

My hero growing up. Love to watch him still. The Who reunion he did was really terrific.

His playing on Jeff Beck's "There and Back" album was a huge influence to me in High School. We wore than record out!

Greg, I know you're not a big fusion guy, but Simon was one of the first guys along with Cobham who really played a big kit ambidextrously, left-side riding, etc. He is very tasty, and has played on a lot of great stuff in the pop, rock, fusion genres.

The other cool thing about Simon is that he became his own producer/engineer very early. He wanted to have more control about how his drums sounded in the studio so he built his own studio in L.A. and became a great engineer who started recording and producing other people's albums.
