Some people recorded (using a phone) my Bluesband at a festival last month. The sound is not great but it gives an impression of the gig.

Well done Rob - well done!!!

The energy sure is fantastic - looks like You've had a great time...

One thing I've noticed when I was in Holland last year - people look soo carefree, and calm... :) I loved it!!!

Awesome. Hell that's REAL blues. Too many bands I hear say they are a blues band and you could never tell.
Kit looks fantastic Rob. And even sound good from a camcorder and played on my work laptop.

Thanks Kelly.
Just for the record, the band released a new demo-cd today. Here the link to the mp3's on our website. Hope you enjoy some of it. Comment will be welcome....I was not completely satified with the mix, but the others are and since we have a democracy over here..

P.S. The title of the cd is "We was Playin' " The error is on purpose, our english is not that bad :D . We stole it from an old bluesrecord on which the singer sang that sentence. We thought it sounded quite "bluesy"

Hihat,

I think the drums sound great for a demo CD. And I dig your playing also!

I know the mix time is very tight for stuff like this. Having done similar demos in the past, my issues with modern studio drum sounds is usually with the way digital technology records cymbals. Cymbals have such harmonic and tonal complexity that is hard to replicate without some pretty expensive mics and gear. They end up sounding overly bright and 2-dimensional. Of course somewhere along the line about 10-15 years ago engineers thought hi-hats should sound like high frequency "ticks" instead of the thicker sounds of John Bonham's or Stewart Copeland's hi-hats.

The drums were recorded with 5 microphones only, BD, hihat and snare plus 2 overheads...

Just for the record? :? ;)

Your playing sounds great, Rob! I am not fully comfortable with the mix; from my perspective the drums are packaged away rather too politely for my taste, but such is often the fate of us hooligans.
