I just saw the other day that Sunday January 8th will be a 70th birthday celebration for Jack Dejohnette, at the Blue Note in NYC.

Band will be:

Jack DeJohnette, drums
Rudresh Mahanthappa, alto saxophone
Dave "Fuze" Fiuczynski, guitar
George Colligan, piano
Jerome Harris, bass

Got my tickets; flying up to NY and catching the show with my nephew. Should be a good night. ;)

Might even get to see those new SQ2's.

Wish I could tag along, or better yet, just show up. You never know who might :)

As for the SQs - I hesitate to betray an opinion (that's a first and probably a lie), but I'm sure whatever he's playing on will sound fantastic.

Wow, that's going to be incredible. Dave Fiuczynski was a student and living and playing in Boston a lot when I was there. He's a very interesting and crazy guitar player. And I've heard people rave about Rudresh Mahanthappa as a composer and player.

Enjoy the Big Apple... it's always a great place to visit!

Thanks, Dave.

One of many things I miss about living in CT is having NYC just a short train ride away. :(

One of the things I love about living in Wisconsin is having New York a thousand miles away. That sentiment does not apply to places like the Blue Note, but you pick your battles. ;)

Can't speak for them, but I am pretty sure NYC appreciates that distance as well.

Imagine Wall Street occupied by dairy cows.
;)

I can imagine many things, many of which have anything to do with reality or truth. I'm pretty sure John Lennon didn't say that, although I think he probably should have. :ugeek:

They are neck and neck as far as pastrami sandwiches though, Katz's (NYc) vs Jake's (Milwaukee)
I've had both and there is no clear winner.
sorry to make everything about food again
