We are off to play at the Jue festival in Beijing and Shanghai at the end of March! With a small rock tour to follow!
We've been trying to do this for almost 10 years, we were part of a cultural exchange that got cancelled because of SARS and have been trying to go ever since.
Over the moon about it, anyone want some gongs brought home?

Check it all out here

and our kickstarter page ( so we can eat while we are there, but it has a video of what we are doing so you can check it out)

Great news, Tim! Fantastic to see a dream like that moving forward. Great luck with fundraising... although I guess you're going one way or the other.

What an interesting venue. What sort of music does the 'rock tour' portion offer, and where will you be going other than those two large cities? I'm curious, because taking a rock tour to China seems about as exotic as it gets.

Congratulations, my friend! I'm really pleased for you.

That is freakin' awesome! Such a unique project. I sold some drums last week so I will try to assist in keeping your belly full of noodles while you're there.

Best of luck,

- D.

Get ready to inhale more coal smoke in Beijing than you will in a lifetime in Massachusetts. :o

Safe travels; enjoy the trip.

Congratulations Tim,

I find that having a solid goal such as a tour or international gigs or a recording process etc. can have both positive and negative stressors. The negatives have to be dealt with constructively because the mix of ego and fear can get out of control. The positive stressors can push you to greater musical excellence and group cohesion which translates into having more fun which sustains your performance energy. Go for it man and don't let any negativity get in the way. You all obviously have what it takes to push this long and hard after 10 years of effort. I probably would not have hung around fighting for that kind of goal unless the music was really good, so your collective endurance speaks volumes.

Thanks all for the well wishes, we are getting ready slowly. Got our visas which was the last hurdle administratively. Rock practice continues, cant believe we used to play so fast...

I usually detest - I think that's not too strong a word - music like that, Tim, but I really enjoyed it. I kept trying to hear it in China, and it may be well suited, if Chinese opera is any indicator of the current pop proclivities of the Chinese ear.

No, really, fantastic. While a steady diet might exhaust me, and while melodic line and acoustic (not electric) energy has become increasingly important to me, that cut is genuinely interesting (in the good sense), very well executed, and had a musicality that goes well beyond the usual. I can hear, I think, the link between that and film soundtrack. Do you guys pitch to current Hollywood? If I were you and had your band's skills, I would be doing that.

Isn't that the truth? Well put, Roland. How to make a mess of a good thing: let ego take over. Think of celebrities, worshipping at the church of fame, all heading for the most horrible pile of corruption. That ought to help.
