Welp...I tried my hardest not to give you a glowing review. But I can't find anything wrong with it.
I went through it three times, by the third time I really liked it.
I youtubeD the song. Found one with a killer bass solo and several drum breaks.
Add those and I'll buy the disc. Even come to Texas to catch a show :D

Thanks, Kelly.

These are probably going to become one minute fade-outs for a demo cd. and the website. We will undoubtedly add more solos to these tunes for live performance, and if we record to make a cd, but wanted to stay away from boring a talent buyer in the demos.

Greg / Goki,

Thanks for the nice comments.

It's interesting you posted that... I finally got around to watching my live Bill Evans DVD last weekend. And I think I bought it a year ago! :o

I agree with Goki -- great balance and nice feel. I think one of the hardest things about playing jazz is the "accompaniment" accents of the snare drum. Sometimes they sound overbearing and out of place. Sometimes they seem too quiet or muffled and don't add enough spice. But your snare concept on that tune was awesome!

Thanks, David.

Interesting comment. As I thought about it, it occured to me that tuning has a lot to do with how that works as well.

I tend to stay away from shallow and highly tensioned snare drums and instead go with ones that have more substance when played lightly, and don't have the sharp attack that I perceive from higher tunings when the drum opens up.
