...Shelly Manne. He's an incredible "accompanist" to me, and sounds great on any live or studio session I have ever heard. And just embodies the word "swing" to me.

Great and enjoyable drumming. I agree he is a great accompanist. Not sure what you mean about palm up style of the right hand. Looks sort of standard palm sideways... at least that's where my right hand tends to ride.
