Nice interpretation.

Tim Ries plays on the Stone's tours pretty regularly, and I believe he did an entire album interpreting Stone's tunes.

I have also seen him playing with Jack DeJohnette at the Blue Note; he is a smoking player.

This gets into the area of jazz that I find particularly difficult; converted pop songs. I can't say I've ever heard one that I've enjoyed, although they can be sort of fun to play... sort of.

"Satisfaction" is a dumb-ass song, startling in its raucous simplicity, and irreplicable in any other genre. (Some like Otis Redding's version better. Otis was a great singer, and there's plenty of energy, but it remains, for me, a hat-tip to the Stones.)

Still, there's some good playing in this version, Charlie does not seem in the least embarrassed of the more fluffy arrangement and, as ever, does not overplay the music - never seems tempted in that direction. Good on'im.

What I noticed most is that he's playing with rods. Interesting choice.
