In anticipation of recording coming up, I need to get back to this steadily. I have a metronome but I no longer have a PA where I always just mic'd it. What are you guys doing, or can suggest, how to hear it over the drums? Are there in-ear devices or something similar that work well? |

Kelly, Don't know what you are going to be using for a metronome, but it if is slectronic, it likely has an output jack. Invest in a good set of earpieces, which you may likely use later for in-ear monitor system. |

Mine is not electronic. So do you mean there are electronic headphone type metronome's? |

Yes. I know they exist; don't know enough about any to add any more. |

Kelly, I recommend this Korg metronome and these headphones. You can use most any headphones that you have with a 1/8" tip, but they may not isolate you enough from the drums. The Korg metronome can be set to quarters, eighths, sixteenths, triplets. etc. http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i- ... 7AodGGvdqQ http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CG0Q8gIwAA Roland |

Xcellent Roland! What I was waiting for. Thank you very much! I have sexy headphones so I'll grab the Korg for now and try them with it. |

I've tested the VicFirth headphones once - both muted and w/cable. The problem was - they cut away A LOT of the drum sound. I know it's me, but I need to hear and feel the drums when I play. Regular $5 headphones (no-name brand) let my ears listen both the metronome and drums, so I wasn't required to hit harder than I usually play. And believe me, I tend to keep my soft-approach towards drumming... That's why I think the in-ear system works better - it's a lot of $$$ maybe, but the positive side is that the ear shell STILL picks up the vibes from the drums. A more cozy feeling, just as I like it. |
