I think it is probably pretty well in the public knowledge that Charlie has had both (i) substance use and (ii) cancer in his life, combined with having lived a large portion of the last fifty years on the road. Maybe he has lived on that fine line more than we know.

I would venture a guess that there is not a drummer in the world that more people have seen on the live stage, given that the Rolling Stones are something in the order of inventors and owners of the large venue format show.

When, after fifty years of this, the man can stay far enough to this side of the line to still enjoy playing with friends, for the pure love of playing, what even needs to be said?
