Yes, it's really interesting to hear from guys who play a homogenous cymbal "series". My favorite cymbal set up right now has 5 cymbals from 5 different manufacturers (Meinl and Sabian rides, Zildjian and Bosphorus crahes and Paiste hi-hats!) :)

My biggest "mixing" in the last 10 years, was using K and K Customs in the same setup :D

before, I used to mix Zildjian and Paiste...

Curious Goki. Do your drums sound any different now that you gained a little weight?

It is a widely held and believed alternative acoustic fact the the size of the player makes a difference. Just like putting your drums in a corner increases bass response, putting a large person behind the kit makes the kit sound fatter cause their is more reflective surface area. Put a player of small stature in the chair and the drums all of a sudden sound thin.

True story, believe me... believe me; and they look different too. One is a big difference and the other is a small difference. Not fake news like that lefty bull they peddle in Modern Drummer.

Oh and just like you should not exercise cause your body is a battery and you don't want to use it all up and die young; you should not practice cause it uses up the limited chops your born with. You need to play only for the gigs and save up your chops battery so you can play years longer. Believe me.... believe me.

I have learned from this, I need smaller drums to play less

Kelly - I think Francis has a point there, about bigger surfaces contributing for a better sound...

Apart from that, all I can say is that, somehow, I prefer smaller drums.

I'll make a clip with the 18" bd to see what I'm talking about... :)

You need smaller drums to look bigger.
