A couple of photos to be more clear about why the memory lock just barely works without modification to the cylinder.

Top photo with tooth inserted into machined slot.

Bottom photo with memory lock lodged against the clamp cylinder. If a more secure stop were wanted, removing metal from the memory lock might also work, although I have a feeling it may adversely affect the lock's durability.
