Yup Brian... And thanx for that - I use the pedal for the Gretsch set since the beginning. Marta says thanx too, since she plays the jam block with the other pedal...

That's my first idea - cut the batter shaft so that I can use the F3000pedal on an 18" S Classix bd (when I convince myself I can pay for one )
The second was to find another docking station so I can use one pedal for both 22" and 18" (and change batters on setup). But I think the $$$ for the docking station can be used for a single tom holder for the bd...


I just wanted to hear your opinions guys. And phatsolid is right, the bd on a riser is more "punchy". But I think that laid on the floor it will give more boom...
I liked the sound on the Gresch, but I didn't like the "grasshopper" looks.

Wow - the thinking out loud really helps... A buss drum without a riser, with a shortened batter... FANTASTIC!!!!

Is that because your beater is striking closer to the center, or because of some other inherent property as the drum approaches the floor?

I always prefer to have the beater strike the drum off-center regardless of BD size, whether it's on a lift or not. Maybe this dates back to my days playing in orchestras, but I think dead-center sounds like a "dead-tone-zone" to me.

I really think the lift thing it's not unlike a guitar player who prefers to put his amp on a chair, or up off the ground. Sometimes it's so he/she can hear it better, but often it's because it sounds different off the ground! Not sure I know the acoustical science behind it.
