Yup. Same for me.

My toms are tuned higher than they would be for rock, but I still don't tune even an 18" kick up into typical bop tuning range.

Agreed Cliff, I'm really into the sound of Joey Baron's drums on that video I posted here recently, the bass drum is low and sounds amazing! I will tune a coverted floor tom up if necessary depending on the gig but generally prefer not to.

Do I recall correctly that this was with a vintage Slingerland kit, or am I thinking of something else?
