Quite beautiful. I've guess I've grown to acquire a liking for the SQ2 badge. I wasn't quite sure a few years back. Does anyone know what the finish is? It looks like a birdseye/cottonwood/Alpi creature of some sort. Does Sonor offer real wood finishes anymore?  It is attractive no matter what it is.  Roland |

Looks like Scandinavian birch to me, one of the few "genuine" veneers remaining from Sonor. |

Hey Roland, Where did this photo come from? I recall a while back that someon had posted a photo (probably on the museum) of Jack's new kit at the factory, and that photo was walnut roots. At first I was wondering if this was that, shot with very odd lighting, but Greg is probably right. Not a very clean looking hardware set-up, and a bit of it looks non-Sonor. A cartage kit? |

Not walnut. Unless JD has changed flavors, the sizes look wrong. Racks all appear to be the same depth. And none of the hardware is Sonor. From the photo, stacked chairs, drum cases with masking taped info regarding contents, I'd agree with Cliff: cartage. |

It's obvious that the event is some sort of a drum clinic - the mic on the drum stool, the cleared space, the cases (some with DW labels) on the right... The kit is probably a rental for the occasion - and by the looks of it, no SONOR hardware apart from the tom arms and clamps. The hardware looks like a DW/Yamaha mix. The kit's hardware is also gold-plated, which suggests a link to the Hilite Exclusive kit that JD played back in the days. But, somehow - this kit doesn't look like it's HIS kit... Beautiful nevertheless - a fantastic looking set, with a VERY COOL setup of the 8-10-12. You can see the 8" tom just left of the snare...
