Hey fellas......had a quick question. I'm thinking about taking "a little off the top" on one of my Designer rocket launchers. If I remember right, Gregory might have done this in the past. The caveman in me wants to whack right through it with a hacksaw, but thought I'd check here first. Any tips or advice before I start in on her? I pulled the cap off and it looks pretty dense in there. Thanks in advance! |

You remember correctly. The extrusion is aluminum, so not particularly dense or difficult to cut through, but I wouldn't use a hacksaw because it is too difficult to control. I used a cutoff saw to make the cut, and that ensures a straight and flat 90ยบ slice, so when the cap is replaced it looks as original. I made a first cut higher up to make sure my saw blade was not chipping the chrome. As I recall, I used a standard wood cutting blade with carbide teeth. Went through like butter. |

Good deal.....thanks a million for the info. Yeah, will probably just hold off until I come across a saw then.....no real dire need to get it done anytime soon. Kelly wrote: Gunnar was thinking "Axe" and I think you might have replied too late ha. Hahaha, that's definitely more my style! |

Hey Gunnar, If you can do without it for 7-10 days, mark it and sent it down. I'll cut it and sent it back. |

Really appreciate the offer Cliff. Looks like I might be able to knock it out at a friend's house this week though. Will let you know! |

Thanks for the heads up Goki! Cliff sent me that link a couple days ago too. Can always use another, so might throw a bid in on it. I think the last one went for over $200, so no telling how high it'll get. By the way, got mine cut down without any problems. Think it looks a lot better! |
