UGH, I have a bunch of snares, which is my own problem. I end up tuning them all to roughly the same pitch. I couldnt tell you which one sounds superior, pretty sure it depends on what room I am playing and how much wax is in my ears |

I don't have any metal snares at the moment. I do wish I had not sold the 6.5 ferrous Signature, because that was a very nice drum in certain rooms and applications. I'd love to have it on hand, at least to fool around with. I think I can safely say this: I'll never be able to buy a brand new one again. I have curiosity about many snares. I am profoundly happy with the Lite, but that doesn't mean I don't still look. Like being married, isn't it. Okay, okay, I mean just looking. That's all. |

I completely agree about the 6.5 Signature ferro. That was one unique sounding drum. Really nice. I also dont think I'd ever spend the money to get another one but wouldn't mind having one if it showed up on my doorstep. |

The D-505 I have and use 90% of the time is a real keeper!!! It sounds perfect both indoors and outdoors, unlike the Yamaha or the Pearl steel ones I had. The seamless shell does make a difference in projection. But, as Tim said - it's a matter of choice. After a while, no matter what snare drum you get, you make it sound like you want it to.... ![]() |
