Hey folks,
I just wanted to share a few words on my latest purchase:

DiRiL AD series cymbal set.
Image

I've decided to sell the SPECIAL series I had and played for 2 years, and get these :)
14" hihat,
16" and 18" thin crashes
20" medium ride.

Image

The ride is very articulate, and the hihat is wonderful.
The crashes are "odd", but I like them very much, especially the trashy 18"... :)

Enjoy the pics and the video link :)

p.s. I've gained a LOT of weight... I know...

Hey Goki,

Glad to see that you got these. As you know, I have been really happy with my AD series set since I got them.

I agree that the crashes (yours and mine) do have a different sound, but I like it. They have a more 'Turkish' flavor to them.

I did not know that you were going to let the Specials go, but I always thought you would like the AD's.
;)

The AD's truly remained stuck in my head since the "Austin experience" :D :D :D
For the way I play drums and cymbals, I find them closer to my expression Cliff...

I struggled with the Special Ride, and the hi-hat. They sounded great, but I couldn't make them work in every situation.
These, on the other hand, are a joy to play...

Tonight, I'll test them in a "band environment"...

Congrats, Goki! :D :D :D

Those look and sound great. Band rehearsal will be the proof.

Yes, it's really interesting to hear from guys who play a homogenous cymbal "series". My favorite cymbal set up right now has 5 cymbals from 5 different manufacturers (Meinl and Sabian rides, Zildjian and Bosphorus crahes and Paiste hi-hats!) :)
