Hey guys I bought a used in excellent condition on Reverb. It’s 6.5x14”, this is the best sounding snare I’ve owned. I took pictures with my phone, how would I upload them here? |

Congrats. Great drum! I had the Signature version, which was a special drum. The diecast hoops tighten the ring up a little over 3F. Sorry I ever got rid of it, except that I have little use for it now. Great for getting definition and cutting through an echoey room. |

Thanks Greg. I think I'm getting addicted to Chrome Ferro snares now. The Signature version has a complex throw off. Was it difficult to change a bottom snare side head and put it back together? I don’t think my A.D.D. would allow me to use it! |

Easier to change the snare head on Sigs than normal throw-off versions... at least on the later version with large snare adjustment wheels at either end of the snare wire. Never messed with the earlier type. |

I enjoy every gig with my D-505, and I doubt I'll ever let it go!!! The D-506 has a fatter sound than the D-505, and the D-505 is a bit more versatile because of the 5.75" depth... I can say with all modesty - that the 5.75" depth is a GREAT all-around player !!! It has just the depth to be tuned low, and the CRACK and POP for higher tuning... I hope you have a chance to check a D-505 as well |

Both of the drums, 505-506 were some of my favorite snare drums. Both of them sounded suprisingly huge. |

I agree Kelly. I’ve heard some people refer to it as a Supraphonic on steroids! |

Is there any real distinction between earlier and later 505s? Throw-offs changed, and I never used any of the earlier ones. |
