Looks neat, Goki.

What it really looks like is Beech Classix.

The glowing nonsense about "SoftTouch" paint is grim, but it looks nice enough.

Sound will be genuine Sonor beech. I'd like to hear and play them. Sizes... that's not your cup of tea bass drum, is it? Good snare size. I prefer square floors, but am not driven crazy by undersquare. And they've got legs; a plus!

I can understand your enthusiastic response, although the singularly sized bass is restrictive.

What's the going price compared to Classix? Any idea?

I've been waiting for them to release a "production" beech kit! I agree with you, Gregory, they do look like "Beech Classix"...which is, pretty much, what I've been waiting for. I'm really very impressed my the Classix stuff that I have. I wonder if they will offer additional sizes down the road?

That looks awesome, i agree with greg about the paint being whatever. The toms could be cool, but what the hell is with the kick. Who needs a 20"deep kick, especially in beech. I will save my rant, you all know it by now, but WTF!!

definitely cool they are doing a production beech kit though

Yeah - the BEST sounding beech bass drums are the 14" deep ones... :geek:

Hate it. Everything about it. Looks toy cheap, way overpriced and ridiculously goofy sizes.
That the Sonor faithful will hail as the greatest thing ever produced.

What do you suppose is the purpose? Are those sizes a new trend in demand? I can understand that SQ orders may be down, surprising nobody, but if attempting to add orders to keep the factory employed, why those sizes, and why those paints?

My guess: its Sonor, trying to act like they "listen". People screamed for beech and they accomodated. All related to the "New Sonor" and the new Sonor crowd.

I can see half okay with the tom sizes and not the kick, the other half okay with the kick and not the toms. The snare size sits in between. 6 is deep these days.

I think that finish looks "unfinished". Cheap looking. The whole setup looks low end.
And it's overpriced. At that much dough the options become extreme elsewhere.

If nothing else I'm completely convinced that Sonor clearly lost sight of how to make an appealing badge.

Couldn't for the life of me picture a pro drummer on tour with them.

I think they need to rethink the whole thing, but I'm sure some people will buy them.
Just not me

Yeah Tim. I don't think we are supposed to love it.

A conversation with my buddy Ron confirms and clears up a lot of my feelings on it.
We are the older crowd. Signature/Designer days gone by.
We talked about the finish and he joked there should be a "denim" option. That's pretty much the catagory I put this finish in. And the crowd I put it in. And I guess the crowd buying kits. High end Veneers aren't appealing to the younger crowds. Doubtful a lot of this crowd bought SClassix. The "museum" crowd. Getting clear why the old guard moved away

He also made the point Tama and others are all coming out with the same goofy sizes.
I still don't see why the kit is so dam expensive though.

But...it's like Disco, Madonna and Rap. I didn't like any of those either but obviously someone did.
