Borrowed this quote from Cliff Also, a head that seem to be relatively undiscovered, despite being what lot's of people have asked for - Evans G Plus. It is a 12 mil (vs.10 mil) single ply with no edge damping, but the thicker mylar translates into better durability and slightly slower resonance (deeper tone). I have used both, and for certain things, they work great. _________________ Cliff First let me say, I'm a Rock Drummer, I've used 2ply Tom batters all my life, Until Now.......... Put these heads on a friends SonicPlus Birch kit the other day, prompted me to try them on the SClassix. ![]() So I put them on the Phonic, I thought they might 'Tame' the kit, and Phonics DON'T need that ![]() ![]() ![]() I was suspecting these heads might have a typical sound character, that, perhaps influenced a specific sound regardless of which kit they are on, but ![]() ![]() ![]() So, I don't think these heads made my Phonic sound like my SClassix, or vice versa, but, I like 'em, just like some people like Ambassadors, others like Pinstripes, I'll report back for those interested ![]() Cheers Haven't played either kit with the band, but from what I can tell thus far, if you're into 2ply Tom heads, you need to check these out ![]() Cheers |

Hey Jeff, Glad to hear that you are experimenting with these a bit. They worked great as rock heads on Signatures for me. Let us know further impressions. Cheers. |

I'd like to check them out when I have the chance... Sounds like they're just the replacement for Emperors... |

Cheers Cliff ![]() ![]() Goki, I think you might like these heads, I've tried a few different heads on the SClassix, but these did something incredible to my 16x16, hadn't heard that kinda low-end warmth from an SClassix 16, might help you get your 14 to do what you want. But, you could lose a little brightness in your Rack Toms, just a touch, they are still cutting and bright, perfect for me ![]() Cheers ![]() |

I'm a believer of sorts. Hated them on the SQ's, loved them on the Designers. I will be trying them on my SClass Pro's as soon as I go through this new set of G1's and G2's. G1's on racks, G2's on floors....very cool. I've never mixed heads before but this is working. Goki...they don't feel much like Emps....but correct...could be a viable alternative if Emps are too heavy for someone. |
