What is a 13,16,20 kit in this finish worth? Very good condition, But.. Modded , Slingerland Tom mount set up, kick and Tom have been drilled, but overall, shes very nice. http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 9,r:13,s:0 http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 29,r:2,s:0 And has a mount like this.. http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 29,r:9,s:0 This isn't the actual kit, but I can get one as described. I would say right around what he was asking. They tend to list for more on ebay but sell for 900-1100 in that configuration. Its not a bop kit. If you can do it get it, they are great drums. |

Wish it was a Bop kit, could easily put $10,000+ to use at the moment http://www.maxwelldrums.com/newsletter- ... 0_121.html I'd be happy with $1,200+, shes pretty clean, all original other than tom mount, looks like shes been cased for 45yrs . I'm NOT interested in keeping this kit, bought it to try and cover what I spent on a D515 and Performer kit . True Addiction Cheers |

Here is a pic of the actual kit, ambitious pricing, but worth a shot, these drums were never distributed in Australia, so each kit was basically, personally brought down here . Extremely rare. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 023wt_1139 Cheers |

Purty. So, a real rarity in AU? Are those little screws that are holding the wrap in position? I wonder why that solution. Jeff, you must have tried playing them. Anything about the sound you like? I'm curious after all your Sonor experience what you'd think of old Gretsch. |

Anything about the sound you like? I'm curious after all your Sonor experience what you'd think of old Gretsch. Drumkit distribution in Australia up until 70's, was done entirely by 2 companies. Billy Hydes, and Lamberti Bros. Billy Hydes did Ludwig, and were on the ground floor with Pearl's beginnings, and many other Japanese cheapies. Lamberti Bros did Premier/Olympic. Billy Hydes was/is huge down here, and more than likely facilitated other US brand custom orders, but there was NO floor stock to check out. I'm pretty sure the wrap is glued and tacked. Looks to be original, but I'm no expert. I didn't actually sit down and play the kit, but I gave it a hit enough to get the general idea. I can definitely understand the kits appeal, for certain applications these drums would be incredible. They sound rich with plenty of sweet Tone at higher Jazz style tunings, which is their forté. But, to me, they lack the kinda body and presence I like from my Kick and Toms. I've been using kits with sharp 45 edges for so long, I'd kinda missed the sound I got from my old Beech Performer with rounded edges, I thought the Gretsch may sound more like that. But it doesn't, as I just got another '85 Beech Performer for $200 , which, side by side with the Gretsch, is much fuller with way more presence. I personally prefer the Performer, but the Gretsch is PERFECT for certain applications . Cheers |

SOLD . But not exactly as expected . A good friend of mine is right into Camco,Gretsch,Ludwig,Rogers and other US vintage drums. This friend has helped me, on numerous occasions with renovations to my house, and also was instrumental in the acquisition of my Mahogany Phonic Plus kit . I called him as soon as I acquired this kit, but he works flat out, and hadn't had a chance to 'catch up', until last night. My family and I feel quite indebted to him, I knew he was into Gretsch (has a 70's Peacock Flame kit ), but when I realised that a Round Badge kit was 'One Of' his 'Two must have kits', we had to strike a deal. He came over last night, checked out the kit, we discussed what we thought it was worth...etc... The kit is just gorgeous, and would probably end up in the hands of a dealer down here, and then had an even more preposterous price than I put on it . We agreed on a rough realistic figure of its value, I then offered it to him for a little below 2/3's of that figure . He was reluctant to accept, as he is that kinda guy, and didn't want me to lose ($ wise) on the kits Sale. After I explained why I made this offer, and how I was still making a little on the Sale , he gave me a HUGE hug , accepted the offer. Seeing the look on his face was priceless , just how I felt when he helped me get my Dream kit, the one on the cover of the '84 Drummes Drum catalog , gots ta luv Mahogany Veneer. Anyways, all is good, everyone is happy Cheers |
