I ordered bass drum feet for a friend, to convert an 18" floor tom...
http://www.stdrums.de/hardware/BDfeet/feet37long.JPG

Unfortunately, they don't go through the Yamaha feet holder (don't know how else to call it). I think they're 0.5mm thicker... :S
I got them from St Drums, but replacing those would cost 60euro (shipping both ways).

Is there a chance of taking them to a metal workshop to get them thinned down?!?
We DO NOT wanna drill the feet holders... :(

Suggestions?!?

Goki, if you can find out what the screw spacings on the leg blocks are, you can get 2 after market matching F/tom blocks to drill (IF NEEDED) and fit to the shell in the same holes.
Just have to swap them over, and the originals will be just that, still original.
If the spacings are similar to Tama, I might be able to help.

Cheers

Thanx Jeff - but finding hardware parts is NOT an option here...
We have to order - if we do, it would be thinner bass drum feet...

I'll see a machine worker tomorrow - we'll see if he can make those bass drum feet thinner...

Hey Goki,

Tough to see a lot of detail from the photo, but it looks like the legs have some sort of fritction enhancing pattern machined on them, and then chromed.

I don't know how you would take down outside diameter, except for lathing, and not sure how you do that with angled rods. Also not sure you want to lathe off the plating.

You might try this question on Speaking of Drums... I think Mike is pretty knowledgeable interms of machining.

Latest updates - a little grease did the trick... :D

But, my friend doesn't like how "tall" the new bass drum is... As far as I know, he needed extra short bass drum legs in order to make it lie on the ground...
That's the problem with all modified floor toms - unless You re-drill the leg holders... :S
