Dave is a good guy. He bought a bunch of pieces off of me, some odd size pieces. He had that 10 cut down to a 10x8. Apparently trying to accomodate the 22 kick height. A 10x9 would have made that a pretty cool kit. The kit he replaced it with was my Designers. |

Ps, loved the veneer on that SQ2, Kel, I remember reading you wish you had ordered Birch Heavy Toms, but that was a long time ago. Gorgeous kit, the pics you posted, well, one of The Best Lookers 'I've' seen. Designers gone, SClass? How about Beech again , you know you want it |

I'm loving my Pro's at the moment and will keep it here for awhile as I am moving again over the next couple months. With the ultimate goal being a Designer kit but not bubinga so I can have a better shot at getting all the sizes I want. I'll never stop experimenting though. Still really want to try Mapex Saturn and Orion. And Dave is welcome to buy anything I try lol. Yeah Jeff, that kit came alive when I brought it outside. Scandi is really hard to capture but those outside pics brought that kit to life. I have to agree, one of the most unique looking kits out there. I've seen some incredibly boring Scandi kits, that was not one of them. They looked like old school Signature Scandi from long ago. Dave actually got the few pieces that were on the plain side because those were the sizes he wanted. That kit (most of it) went to Japan. Beech is not speaking to me these days, especially not that new kit. |

I had a Mapex Orion kit for 15ys. Bought it back when No one, myself included, New who, or what Mapex was, except Billy Cobham. Kit was nice, but the specs have changed since then, different edges,thickness,fittings,etc.............. Rumour has it, Keller made their earlier shells, but the ply lay-up looked nothing like Keller to me, less plies, and thicker individual plies, the current shells look more like Keller, with Sonor bearing edges. The hardware used on my Mapex kit was very ordinary, and threads would strip on-stage , I swapped out most of the hardware with my older Tama stuff, which incidentally, is still kickin 22yrs after I bought it. PS/ Mapex drums are made in the same KHS factory site as MIC Sonor (made in China), you could get yourself a 3007 for heaps cheaper. Cheers |

Until they do something with those claws Jeff on the lower lines I won't be interested. Can't for the life of me see me going back to non insulated claws. Have they changed them recently? Recent reviews on Mapex are always extremely positive and I really like what I hear. Of course it's via internet. |
