I went to visit my folks on Saturday and stopped in at DCP as well. His shop is now located where the pawn shop used to be, which also had some cool drums in it's day.
It's unreal in there. Absolutely as good as Forks in Nashville or Tommy's in Austin, better than almost any other I have seen for it's size.
The amount of high quality cymbals and snare drums is staggering. He even has UFIP in stock. He has ottoviano in stock, those things are incredible.
The snare drum wall is unlike anything I have ever seen. I was there with a guy named Pete and Shane just kept pulling different drums off the shelf, telling us we had to hear this one and that. My favorites were a canopus and the poplar Craviotto. I can't even begin to tell you how good they all sounded. I had to leave.
Bottom line is the guy has an absolute world class drum shop, and I feel like we all need to do what we can to keep him in business. He loves his job and loves his drums.
I came home and went through all my snares to see if any of those would fit in. Turns out all of them are tuned to the same pitch except my Lite and Hilite. I should maybe change it up a little. It was interesting in that listening to my Slingerland and George Way snares I could hear the Canopus and in the Lite I could hear some of the Craviotto. All different, but all great drums. He just has a ton of great drums, but it was nice to go from that massive wall of sound to my little stash and remember that I do too.
