Hi Kel, I know you're a fan of a certain model of SClass drums. Is it the SClass maple, or SClass Pro you favor?

I just bought this kit.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWNX:IT

My friend has a matching 8 (same color), he said I can have it :o ;) . I used to sell these kits New in '98 for $3,500 down here in Australia.
I'll sell the snare, pedal and Hi-Hat stand and get my money back. The kit is 3500kms away (2000+miles), he is posting for $150.

Does anyone want a Pearl Free Floater for $500  , or an Iron Cobra double, or Hat stand.

Cheers

Hey Jeff,
Well for that money....have fun with them.
Those are not SClass Pros though. And I see that is what he calls them. They are first gen SClass. Night and day.
Love that color.
The Pros wouldn't of went that cheap but worth every penny in my book. You get a chance do a comparison. The next generation was the beginning of all the current iso mounts, claw protectors etc. A very significant improvement in tone and projection. Not to mention the deeper kicks...17.5's.

1st generation were Maple/Birch with Plastic color matched kick hoops, No?
These are SClass Maple, then there was SClass Pro, yeh?

He got all the specs right according to Sonor literature.
Couldn't pass on it at that price, I'll sell the Pearl and Tama stuff, get my money back ;)

Cheers

Apologies Jeff, that is correct. I had to photoshop his tiny badge picture. But a dead give away are the kick hoops.
I had a gorgeous looking 1st gen kit, and a set of 2nd gen for about 3 days. Because while I was waiting to get them, I had a SClass Pro kit arrive and immediately knew which I wanted to keep. Both 1st and 2nd gen kits sold in one day on the museum.
I played that 2nd gen for minutes only. The 1st gen were very disappointing. Felt very much like a beginner kit. Couldn't get that kick drum to do anything. And that coming from someone with a very large stack of just about every kick drum head made.
So you let me know how you feel about them.
I think you could really spruce them up if you scout out a SClass Pro kick. They came in that color too. SClass Pro kicks go BOOM. Or at least look for some Pro claws. They really go along way in improving the resonance.

This is why SClass Pro's are one of my all time favorite kits. The drums are so musical. I've heard a few say they don't like the sound of SClass Pro's. Thinking they just don't know how to tune.

Very Nice :D .
I remember selling a few kits in that finish, it had Birdseye thru it. Gorgeous colour, didn't quite like the Misty Rose, nice, but not for me.

Do you know if the shells are the same from SClass Maple to SClass Pro? I had the feeling (at the time) that they were exactly the same shells, just changed lugs, mounting, finishes. I might be able to hook up some TAR mounts :|.

Would love to have a 14x16 Dia x Dep, my boss has a Sonic Plus Birch in this size, killer drum. I think they stoppedx that after the first gen.

Cheers Kel :D

I'm not sure Jeff. I suppose the catalogs on the museum would tell us.
The SClass Pro toms are significantly more "lively" so messing with the mounts has to be an improvement. The lug mounts on the Pros are iso mounted too so you wouldn't get all the benefit.
I think where you are really going to fall short is the kick. The mounting, isolated claws and extra inch and a half make for a huge difference. Not to mention the finishes are night and day.
I'm just comparing though. Admittedly Pro's aren't for everyone.

I have a 14 x 16 ft but getting it to you I think would take an act of God. I have a 16 x 16 ft also. Both are rare sizes.

Now I wish I would have kept my Aqua greens. Didn't know at the time the color was going to be that rare. When I first got it I couldn't stand it. Sold those to get the Emerald green which is still my favorite color. Turns out those are difficult to find also.

Emerald Green was awesome. I've been waiting for Sonor to re-introduce that colour, but nothing has come close.
We sold heaps of Emerald Green kits, a friend of mine still has one. Funnily enough, his 14x12 used to choke up really badly when mounted, we could never find out why, perhaps the TAR mount was bent or something.
