Gorgeous isn't it. Just noticed the 8 is double lug and all the rest are single.

Quite a bit of corrosion. I wonder if it was exposed to the salt air? In any case, the "surface rust" will not be superficial.

Hale, you sold a birch Designer kit, and I remember almost buying it but veered away for some reason. I think I didn't want to duplicate the sound of my Classix. (Mitch had it, last I heard, but that means it could have scattered to the four winds by now) And Rooster has a birch kit, but those are the only ones I can recall. Certainly rarities.

Birch Designers just didn't do it for you?

I know of a couple more Birch Designers down here. One in Bubinga that I'd love to get my hands on. But I think its Fauxbinga :o  .
If that kit had a 22, or 24, I'd be on it. It's only 1200kms away.

For some reason Birch drums, thin ones anyway, just aren't my bag. I'd love to know how a set of thick Eames shells sound. The Designers I had were very good sounding drums. I finally got the toms dialed in, but then the kick never really did it for me. I use an Emad on the BD for my maple and beech drums and it kills. Emad never sounded good to my ear on the 22x16 birch Designer.

The toms sounded very good to me with clear Emperors on top and clear Ambs on bottom. Anybody ever play Eames drums?

Hale, I thought a Designer 22 was terribly lacking. The 20 x 18 was great. Both were Maple.
Eames...no...never heard of them.

Same here, EMAD doesn't sound good on birch BD's, the same for Aquarian SKII. I tried the new Powerstroke pro clear on an SClassix 22 BD, Much better!!
