Not my pic but a great shot of the Giant Step pedal height on a 22 kick. From the look of this I would have thought I would have been okay with the positioning, but I wasn't. A little too high strike zone for me. And too much feel lost lowering the beater. Shame. On a 20 there would just be no way for me. Sonor?? wtf were you thinking. One of the coolest pedals I have ever played and you fix the height? |

Perhaps a bass drum riser would correct the problem, Kelly? I've never used one myself but I've heard decent reviews from people who have! |

Really super nice pedals Justin. I don't know about the riser but i've been half tempted in the past to take a saw to one. |

Justin wrote: Perhaps a bass drum riser would correct the problem, Kelly? Dunno. Can't imagine wanting to put a 22" kick on riser. On the other hand, if you weren't serious, you have a very dry sense of humor. Justin wrote: I've never used one myself but I've heard decent reviews from people who have! I bought one to use on a 20" kick. In terms of machinery, I think they are one of the finest pieces of drum équipe I have seen, but I could not use it on a 20", and I play mostly 18" these days. I sent mine to Kelly, and he didn't like it even on a 22". From the looks of it, I wouldn't either. I think Greg will tell you that he does not mind striking so far out of center, and he can use it on even his 18". |

At least, with an EQ4, the sound does not seem to shift much. You heard how it picks up in the H4. Not ready for a riser; seems like using a walker and I don't have enough tennis balls to decorate the thing. Kelly wrote: ...t i've been half tempted in the past to take a saw to one. Trouble is, no place to saw the thing and still have it work. |

Sorry, to bring up an old subject, but I'm trying to understand how a $400 pedal does not allow for beater height adjustment? Is it just that it will go higher, but not lower for the 22" center hit? They advertise as "fully adjustable" beater set up, so I don't get it. - D. |

It has been a while David, but my recollection is that (i) adequate adjustment left too short a throw, and, (ii) beater stem would need to be cut off in order to not have the bottom of the stem engage the head or the lower crossbar in the returned position. The frame itself is just too tall, as I remember. |

The f'd up thing is I still want one. They are that good. But impossible for me to get to work right. Cliff is right David. The beater hits too high and trying to lower it really ruins the whole feel and effect of the thing. It is the frame. If you lower the beater anywhere near the center of the drum you have hardly any beater length left. Most of the beater bar will be below the center of the pedal. What a shame. |

That's a far cry from the 22 pic I posted. Can you step on the pedal. That picture doesn't seem to tell the whole story. Thanks. I'll wait here.... |
