I just found out that my snare batter head of choice has been discontinued. |

I'm running those on my Toms, and I love 'em. Didn't know they did a standard 'Brush' finish in G Plus. Are they deleting all G Plus heads, or just Frosted? Are they deleting all Frosted heads? |

Hey Jeff, As I understand it, in the G Plus line, they are deleting just the frosted version; clear and white coated will continue. I do not know if frosted is being deleted from other lines. |

I looked at all my usual outlets. Gone as an advertised item. I'd call around; some may still be in stock. |

Australian supplier may have stock . Prices are crazy, as is freight. 14's used to be $39rrp here , still sitting at just under $30. But I can look into it if you like. How do the standard coated version compare sound/feel wise? |

Hey Jeff, I do appreciate you checking, but I am going to look around a little more before paying that high. I have not used a white coated G Plus, so I can't make a true comparison, but my experience with the frosted has been that they have not chipped and flaked under wear, like other Evans white coated heads (G1) I have used. Evans say they are the same, except for the white pigment, but I don't know. Don't know if they sound any different with sticks, but other coated white vs. G Plus frosted sound more bright and aggressive (to me) with brushes. Maybe it is just a perception since the white coated are visually brighter. Dunno Again, maybe just perception, but I think frosted 'feel' softer' as well. Visually I like the soft translucence much more than the white coated also, it is just so much more mellow looking. Now I am wishing for 12 mil Fiberskyn single ply heads as a possible alternative. |

Goki wrote: I think FiberSkyn heads die quickly on snare... :S I have heard this also, but I may try one to see if that problem is at all volume related. |
