Okay, just one more. This caught my attention, but something odd going on date-wise. I assume the floors are SQ.

Yup.

Looks like SQ2 floor toms and snare.

Saw that too. Debadged. It's pretty shitty he doesn't say anything about it.

Yup - no badges whatsoever on the floor toms...

I sort of wondered if he might lose a little money on the sale because he didn't mention that the floors and snare were Qs.. "hybrid" SQ2/Designer kits don't really bother me a bit , but I've always wondered how most view the idea..

I don't know about losing money, but it's possible someone might ask for a full refund.
It's not so much whether it's a mix, it's the fact that he doesn't say it is.

Kelly,
I agree with you about the main affront being the fact that he doesn't "fess up" about the kit being a "hybrid." I wouldn't go for it simply because of that fact..there are plenty of kits in the world, I prefer to do business with folks who keep things on the up-and-up. The used market is a very strange place, these days...

Some don't care, but most people would like to buy a kit that happened all at once. There is a certain - unreasonable, perhaps - completeness about that.

In this specific case, SQ's are not Designers. The shells aren't the same, the hardware isn't the same. For my own purposes I would certainly make that kind of purchase if I needed to fill out a kit, but good-lord-help-us not with the notion of getting a high return for the toms or the kit in mind.

I guess the bass and two racks must have been left over stock. Wonder what happened between six months ago when he bought them and now?

I've always wondered about this and you know your shells, my friend. I know the hardware isn't the same, but other than a slight difference in shell thickness between, say maple medium(SQ2) vs maple light Designer [6mm vs, 6.7mm right?]...what are some of the other differences? I've always been really, really curious. :?
