On drums...

A Designer kit was listed for 999.00 starting bid. Auction boasted "No reserve", which I never understood that concept anyway. But watching it I thought "are they really going to let that kit go for that". The answer to that was "no".
It gets a bid in the last couple hours and I thought "wow, what a deal". When I went back later to check it, the auction was surely over, with the heading "This item has been removed and is no longer for sale".
Now the seller has each drum listed individually.
Not good for your ebay reputation and this is a music store.

Well he got $599 for the bass drum, so if he can clear 600 for the rest he'll be happy.

Not my favorite color, but still good drums to piece out.

Either list the goods with the correct price, or list with no reserve and suck it up if you don't reach the expected price...

But, pulling away in the last minute. That's, well, unfair!!!

It's just shitty, especially from a business.

Now the floor tom has a bid. The likely scenario is he'll be stuck with a couple drums. I hope.

Check his completed items, some of those ludwig and Tama stands went for huge money.

I always list stuff with no reserve. But then again, I put a first bid price that I can live with. I think Ebay should implement a policy which says you can't end the auction early in the last 24 hours. It would stop all this B.S.

People try to justify this practice by saying "I reserve the right to end the auction early because the item for also for sale locally" which is also B.S. It's just a way to "warn" people that if you don't like how the bidding is going you're going to yank it at the last minute.

Lately, if it's an item I'm really interested in, I e-mail the seller first and make sure that they won't end the auction early before I bid. But it goes without saying you shouldn't have to do that.
