Hate to put this on top of Latz' beautiful thread but saw this today.
Initially I was completely blown away when I saw the pics. As I looked closer I got a bit frustrated.

Why did they make the shell so thick? They are birch? And I hate the doubled up lugs on the 6.5
I would try the thick shell, I'm okay with birch and the deeper shell is more my thing, but all three of those things go against main stream right now.
Still very pretty drums.

Aero-dynamic internal washers are surely breaking new ground.

People are obsessed with thick ply and thick stave snare drums. I have no idea why. Supposedly projection and "crack". Huh? I remember DW and others bragging about a 20-ply snare drum a few years back and I couldn't figure out why. But then again, there are whole genres of music that I just don't understand, like "Death Metal" etc.

Looking at the new Premier drum lines, I'm not that optimistic. They still have too many choices and it's not clear why. Why did they hold onto the Genista line and not the Signia line? Because they had all these round lugs lying around? And Genistas never came in maple before, so that will confuse people further. But that being said I think the Genista sparkle lacquers are their best looking drums right now.

They come in your size (7.25" deep), but the stacked lugs are poorly conceived and executed.
