Any idea what these little holes are? There are three total on the reso side. One is directly on top of the bearing edge.
A little research showed GMS doing this on one of their series. I am asking because I have a buyer for it and he wants to know what they are.
This is a custom built snare. Don't remember by who now.

I would guess that, if those holes are dead ends, they were used to hold the drum while it was being finished or sanded or some such thing.

I thought that too. I don't know if they dead end. I'm not taking the head off to find out either.

Yep, mounted to something to spin the shell.. They aren't centered very well.

If it is a major concern you can fill them with some glue and a dowel rod or toothpick if they are small enough. Nobody will ever be able to tell in the sound department....

Thank you sir.
The buyer backed out because of them. For the money he was paying, he's pretty silly.

I'd fill them with the method(s) I mentioned above. The hole doesn't even have to be completely filled, as nobody will be able to tell. Then just sand the cut off to match the bearing edge..

Call or PM me if you need help...
