Largest diameter of the VF family, good experience history with them.

Long enough to bend the loops over to about a 120 degree angle and hang them on floor tom lugs.

Plenty of others may be as good, but I have used these for years. They used to be called something different, but same spec.

using Vater wire taps, happy with these although the rubber collar does seem to slip a bit, maybe just old age lol quite fancied trying the Clayton Cameron model

For general, lighter and lower volume playing- the Regal classic brush or VF Gadd model.
For getting in there and playing loud, the VF Jazz Brush. It has heavier wire and a hard plastic sheath, it can crack a rimshot really loud. Funny it's called "Jazz", it's the loudest brush I have played.

I agree with you on the VF Jazz, Chris. A very loud and, for me, not particularly wieldy brush. My brush technique is not all that good, and that may in part be responsible for the feeling of awkwardness. When I want a lot of detail, I go for a wood-handled, non-retractable, smaller gauge wire brush that is more flexible and does not tend to "high side" into the head if I move the wrong way. On the other hand, it is also more prone to catching at the rim, which is truly annoying when it happens. I need to work on technique.
