Handsome. I can't tell if I am conditioned to see the figure running vertically on drums or if it looks objectively better that way... I mean, that is the way a tree grows, but veneering has never been beholden to direction of travel. I prefer to see the grain running vertically, but I concede that wrapping it around the shell can have its own kind of beauty, and the problem of matching wood hoops to the bass shell is diminished. See how they've pulled that off on the mahogany kit. Pretty cool.

Since Sonor is using faux veneer these days, they do not come up as a comparison, not in my book anyway.

Wonder why the snare in the rosewood kit is veneered opposing to the rest of the kit?

I hear ya Greg. Horizontal never appealed to me either.
I think on the Mahogany kit, I could live with it.
Strange for sure that the two different kits are in different directions.
I am not sure if the snare you are questioning actually goes with that kit. It was a platform/booth at a drum show and a lot was packed together.

ah....just noticed the Rosewood BD hoops are running the opposite of the shell. Gotcha Greg.

I'm really glad to see that they are making a serious go at making some fabulous drums again. Now if they can get some decent US representation that would be cool too!

I like similar but mismatched veneer on drums. I think the new Sonor stuff is so homogenous it almost looks like a wrap, which I guess it kind of is anyway.
