So much that can go wrong. It's a wonder, and a blessing, that so much goes right most of the time. Keep us in the loop, Chris.

It's coming down the pike now. The swelling is pretty low, seems all that is swollen or bruised is the areas that are sprained, the break area is not that bad looking at all. Pain is pretty low, too. I'm only taking about 600mg of Acetaminophen a day to manage it.

Thanks for the kind words!
Well, it's been 9 days since surgery and I find myself in about the same situation as when I posted the day before surgery. The swelling is virtually gone and I'm also virtually pain free. For the last two days I have only had to take one tylenol or ibuprofen daily to manage the pain (which is usually in the morning after waking up). I do have a nice collection of titanium now: 6 screws and a plate on the right side Fibula in addition to the 6 plates and 24 screws in my left cheek and orbital floor from a bicycle accident I had 1.5 years ago. :o Still won't set off airport alarms, though. :(

The 50 minute surgery went really smooth, the staff and doctor were top notch. Recovery from the surgery was a breeze, but the next few days were a little rough. The first day was bizarre: they administered a nerve block just behind my knee for the operation. The effect was complete paralysis from the knee down-couldn't feel anything nor move my foot or toes for 24 hours. When that wore off, the big league painkillers were brought into play. I kept ahead of the pain and within a week of surgery I had completely tapered off the narcotics and went OTC. Much better.

Now is just the waiting and healing game. Gotta stay off the leg for at least 3 more weeks, no driving. I have a follow up appointment in a week where they will remove the 20 staples securing the suture, which is also healing up really well. I have been eating and supplementing hyper-well and it's paying off. I feel great and everything is healing fast! Plus, being the techy, tooly guy I am, I have two sets of crutches (shortys for going up and down the stairs to my room and proper sized ones for striding along), a cane and a 4-wheeled scooter thing that has a seat for my bent knee and I just push myself around with my good leg. It's great for scooting around the house as well as around the neighborhood!

Plus, I have a temporary handicap parking placard. That is the greatest perk of this whole thing!

For your consideration, the fix:

Good news Chris!!!

Just follow your doctor's advice to the detail - if the leg doesn't heal right, you'll develop meteoropathy...

I had to google it... does that mean when the sun shines, his mood improves, and if it is overcast, not so good? If you have those symptoms, get to the ER and quick.

Chris, glad you're past the large hurdles. Sounds as if things are moving along as they should. I laughed at the multiple props. This is all great news.

Bummer about the airport alarms.

haha, I had to look up meteoropathy myself. I live in Colorado, where the sun shines a lot and it's relatively dry. Does wonders for the mood, as evidenced by the people who live here. It's a pretty friendly bunch, though the elevation does make the air thin and therefore the people a little goofy, too. :D

Virtually zero pain. Not taking anything but a couple mulitvitamins and a Magnesium/Calcium/Zinc supplement to support bone and tissue healing. Feeling great.
My left leg is getting extra strong from taking all the work. My hopping skills are off the hook!

I'll keep ya'll in the loop after my follow up on Thurs. I feel it's going well but we will see what the good Doctor says.
