I just hope everyone is OK in the affected areas... Have not heard from my relatives in NYC... |

Yep, just crazy. We certainly avoided the worst of it here in Boston, at least if you live off the coastline. Just 2 days of no school for the kids and lots of trees down and power outages. Certainly makes like more difficult but nothing like the insanity of New York and New Jersey right now. - D. |

Agree with David, we dodged a bullet for sure. I was one of the stupid people who went to work anyway, up on the 14th floor of a tower. Pretty amazing to see the wind and rain from that height and what it was doing to the city. Glad all my people down in the strike zone are all smart enough to live on hills, nobody got flooded or hurt. |

Actually looking at things a day later it's a little worse than I originally thought in my neighborhood. There is a telephone pole completely snapped in half in my neighbor's front yard. It happened Monday night and they are just getting to it today. Somehow I never lost power. And the two adjoining streets are still impassable with a huge tree down blocking each of them. So weird because I was staying int the next town over only 5 miles away and there was no wind damage there at all. Nevertheless, compared to the NY/NJ shoreline, Tim is right... we surely dodged a bullet with this one. - D. |

The scalloped white picket fence immediately speaks to me of my childhood shoreside home in Bay Head, New Jersey. Never saw it looking like this! Apparently natural gas leaks are bubbling up all over town, and the next town south is burning from same. These photos are taken from the intersection, the first looking east toward the ocean, the second south toward the bay; the house's chimneys are just visible to the left: |

My relatives were lucky - they were in zone C which meant no evacuation. Plus, they live in a building and they have no direct damage. It's still horrifying, nevertheless... |

That's good news, Goki. Very little loss of life, overall, but the destruction is unbelievable. |
