Still have my blind addiction to Sonor stuff. :lol: :oops:
And still using a 24 kick. I have a Phonic +/- that I veneered in Ebony which I use the most.
Also use my SClassix kit when I jam with a few peeps.
I have this Sonor Signature Lite style kit that has Bubinga inner veneer and Birch shells. Its much lighter than the Phonic, so I like it for gigs, but.....

Haven't been gigging much at all, practically stopped actually.
Don't want to do the kinda gigs were you travel for miles, play to no-one, and it costs you money for the privilege.
I think as I get older the only gigs I could play would be covers, and I'm just not interested in doing that.

How about you, Kel? I see you finally got the S Class Pro in Grained Maple again.
I think my main issue with them was if the T-bars bend, the drum chokes up. I like what you did with the mounts.
Any sonic difference from the Designer tom blocks?

I'm not sure how it worked Jeff but, out of the 4 SClass Pro's I had, some kits didn't have the bottom part of the mount screwed into the shell. They just had that rubber pointed bumper that was free to move. My thought has been, the China horizontal grained drums had that but I really don't know if that is the truth. These are vertical grained and has that point mounted to the shell.

I played these maybe 3 days before I changed the mounts. I am not positive but I was happy before and after.
It is possible that the Designer mounts have shaven off a small bit of resonance, making the toms a little quicker.
Which is okay for these. They resonate for weeks.
I never liked the new mounts and arms. Adjusting tom position is a bit of guess work and the toms do move a lot.

Gigging is becoming more difficult. Money is tight. ASCAP and BMI, losing money for lack of sales, are now harassing bar owners for royalties against bands playing covers. Consequently many music clubs are no longer hiring. And then,the police wait down the road so NOBODY drinks anymore, and bars can't pay well. And that's just the money side.

Still, I persist because I like to play, although each time I get home and wonder why.

Hello all. Thanks for letting me join in. I am a refugee from the museum; enough said.....

So I also own an S-Class Pro in natural; 12, 13 racks 14, 16 floors with a 22. So my horizontal grained shells were made at KHS factory / Mapex and shipped to Aue to have the bearing edges cut and the hardware added to be dubbed Made in Germany.... but more like assembled in Germany.

Is true on my kit. The bottom bumper is not attached. I normally play this kit with a three tom combination and not all four. The snare is not my favorite. I used it a lot last year when I filled in with a swing / little big band last year while the regular drummer had surgery. Worked well with 12, 14, 16 and a D454 that sounded much better with brushes. This is my only maple kit as all the rest of my Sonors are birch and beech. The funny thing about these drums is that they have 2 date stamps inside. One earlier in red from Asia when the shells were made and one black from Aue. The 14 floor is also 16 inches deep. Cant say I own another 14 floor that is quite that deep. This is one of the kits I feel comfortable taking out to gig in a few different configurations and the bass drum is light compared to other stuff. They good stuff stays at the house. Not gigging regularly at the moment, but do have one gig upcoming this summer in Napa thats outdoor.

Would love to have the horizontal vs vertical grain, coke vs pepsi, apple vs windows conversation in the future....

Wow, I didn't know that. Makes perfect sense tho.
I like the 14x16 thing. They did it yrs b4 with Signatures, and later on with Sonic Plus aswell.
I've also seen some Chinese Force 2001's in that size.
