Post subject:  Some Youtube videos

of our National Television Big Band... :)

I just thought I should share how jazz sounded and sounds like here, in a Big Band formation...

1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zOm7LMVcQ from 1989
Arrangement by our prominent jazz guitarist Zivojin Glisicc- a folk song called "I Was Born To Suffer"

2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IGAOq_W ... re=related (don't know the year)
Composed by Ilija Pejovski (more videos of his compositions on the right)

3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIA3jbJgwT8 (from 2000)
John I. Apelgren and the Macedonian National TV Big Band, perform "Orange Colored Sky"

4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXzNSK7OdiM (same concert from 2000)

5) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJt4iBJpzhQ - "Don't sell the farm Young man" - a folk song; here it's arranged by Ilija Pejovski

6) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ypTG9NeWqk - Dragan Gjakonovski Shpato - our most talented jazz composer (R.I.P.)
His son Martin Gjakonovski is a phenomenal double bass player (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu8J8A_Hl8s)

7) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeIqhHwl ... re=related (1989)
Dragan Gjakonovski Shpato - Come Autumn (Dojdi Esen)

8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBUyE5_S ... re=related
Dragan Gjakonovski Shpato - "Mimi"

9) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sTz0euc ... re=related
Ljupco Mirkovski - Dream (Son)

So, I hope You'll find these interesting to say, at least... ;)

Cheers,

P.S. and something I've found just now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbsG2FcV ... 974A88A847 - "Don't sell the farm Young man" but this time, performed by the Big Band from Belgrade - Serbia (our northern neighbor)... Fantastic - first time I hear this arrangement myself... :O
Amazing combination of Macedonian 9/8 and Latino rhythms...

The blonde vibe player must have quite the following, even if among the tone deaf.

Thanks for posting, Goki! I didn't see you anywhere. My favorite character was the rail thin conductor in argyle cardigan and grey jeans. :D
