I may be the lone American that cares (or even knows) that F1 season begins this weekend in Bahrain.

It is always exciting when the season begins anew, with a large contingent of potential winners, and couple of rule changes, the effect of which are difficult to predict.

So here I am, up earlier on the weekend than during the week, to catch the first race of the season.

In fact, you may be the only American who knows where is his Bahrain. I've been looking for mine all morning; because of daylight savings, I haven't had enough coffee yet.

F1 is Formula One racing. Single seat, open wheel cars at a very high level of technology.

Bahrain is on a small island in the Persian Gulf, off the east coast of Saudia Arabia, north of Qatar.

The races are run in various locations around the world, with the taking place majority in Europe.

I used to watch F1 a lot, up until several years ago... Somehow, things changed suddenly - work, music, less time for TV...

But, 90% of the population back here is a F1 junkie. Including my mother in law... :D

Fortunately (or unfortunately), most of the televised F1 activity takes place outside of any normally productive (read:waking) hours, here in the U.S.

All I have to trade off to follow most of the races in the season is sleep. :|
