I bid on the following item:

Exhibit A:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150661243723&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:US:1123

Right after I was outbid, the same seller relisted this at a higher price:

Exhibit B:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sonor-Double-bass-drum-pedal-Giant-Step-/150664249007?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231449feaf

I have reported this to eBay. Bet nothing happens. They got their cut on the first auction, now they'll get it again!

Sounds annoying, Brian, but I'm confused about the "ripped off" part.

Was that the end of the auction?

Because it looks like he was trying to bid up his own auction. The thing ended on the 17th with a high bidder and was relisted on the 17th with a buy it now winner. Smells fishy to me.

To me too Kelly...

It's amazing what some people are prepared to do...

What happened was that when I listed the item I thought I put a reserve, instead I put a but it now price. Once it sold, there was no way I could let it go for $332 when I paid $1000 for it a few years back. In this case, it is the first time this has happened and although I feel bad for telling you that I cannot sell it that low, I am willing to take the neg. feedback from my already perfect feedback. If you are interested, there is a buy it now option.

Understand that I bid $355.00, (not really caring if I won it or not) only to find that, A: I was outbid, and B: that it was available for sale for almost $200.00 BIN more (than I should have won it for) by the same seller a short time later!

It was only happenstance that I found this item for sale (again) right after losing the auction for considerably less. I really thought that, somehow, the "winner" had listed it for a profit, only to find that it had been relisted by the same seller!

There can't very well be feedback if he bought it himself, can there? Except glowing, perhaps.

Is it illegal or unethical to buy your own item at auction? Or just disappointing or annoying to everyone else?

That's his explanantion? It completely makes no sense.
And if you were outbid, why did he send it to you?
