I see this as a good thing. If he's giving up drums, what can he possibly post about incessantly before someone says "Look, you're not even making believe you play drums anymore, so why don't you STFU?"

He can post in the "used BUT not played" section, I guess...

With a beautiful drumset at home - there's always photography as an option... ;)

Funny how that happens ...Kind of like "Move along now, there's nothing to see here!"

I'm hoping for a quick liquidation, myself. Once all the drums are gone, The habit of starting inane threads (how about "What if Sonor made bladder control products?") that turn into 30 page diatribes may end. The fact that he announces that he's off the internet on weekends probably has less to do with any noble purpose other than he only posts when he's at work.

Wasn't he promoted to some kind of special role over there a while back?

Not a chance. He's just as active when he quits drumming, and life. Like Manny.
Some people need an audience.

Claiming other things have priority over your "drumming life" (meaning forum life) and your hands hurt anyway, "it's a good time to give it all up"....
Well, the amount of time one spends on a forum says enough about ones priorities in life. So that's a no fly zone.
Lots of priorities in life, I don't need to quit drumming over them.
As far as hurting hands, yeah well, your hands are going to hurt playing like that, and not having the experience/knowledge to warm up first. Ever heard of rudiments...

His gigging stories, or he has ever gigged in his life.....believable, it is Georgia after all.

The unfortunate thing is that, with many of the episodes in the past, I have been tempted to take the issue at face value and respond in sincerity.

As I look at the kit set up in his avatar, and recall the video clips he has posted, it seems to me that a certain amount of pain and physical damage is nearly unavoidable. I have tried, for just a moment to position my hands at that height, and then pulled back at that angle, and nothing but discomfort results. Add what looks like a fairly stiff, club-like grip, and even if there was no underlying problem beforehand, one seems likely to develop; if there is an underlying condition, this seems certain to aggravate it.

I don't know if any consideration has been given to ergonomics in his set-up, or if it is more reflective of an emulation of an idol, but I don't get the sense that real problem solving is the objective, rather than a ruse for attention.
