A month ago, register.com charged me in duplicate for the domain name renewal.
The process of sorting it out led to protesting the duplicate charge through the credit card company. When the duplicate charge was charged back to register.com by the credit card company, they elected to overlook that it has still been bought once, and tried to ransom it back to me even though I still owned it!
Well over an hour on the phone with several levels of 'customer service' people that were unable/unwilling to understand the simple math that 2-1=1.
I am not absolutely certain, but I think that they now have a business model that includes transfer of domain names that go inactive (even if through their own bad actions) to another 'owner', which ransoms the name to back to you.
We did not go down that path.
