Welp....got contacted for another band this morning. Been passing emails back and forth all day. Gonna give it a go too.
They are retired studio muscians, my age and want to remain a three piece. We went over material, goals....etc.
They'll be here on the weekend.
Getting prepared for a divorce :D

What sort of material?

How do you feel about the 'power trio' environment?

Thanks men.
Cliff...power trio works and I could prefer it if they are very talented muscians. Both bass player and guitarist need to be able to fill their spots incredibly. My early years was just a trio but I had one of the most remarkable guitar players I have ever met. You know, bands are like a marriage, and the less folks your married to the closer the few become.
They both sing and I get the feeling are not "poor", guitarist retired at 55? Bass player is 47. He said they devote 100 percent of their time to music. The sent an incredible list of equipment, so if they know how to use it, this should be fun.
He said they are very open, here is the list he sent of the type of music they want to do. I'll send you the other bands list but it is so freaking long and I don't have my scanner hooked up.

We would like to play stuff like:

Purple Haze
Manic Depression
The Wind Cries Mary
Voo Doo Chile (Slight Return)
Crossroads
Post 1965 Beatles
Police (Every Breath You Take, Roxanne)
White Room
Badge
Outside Woman Blues
All Along the Watchtower
Don't Get Fooled Again
Behind Blue Eyes
My Generation
All Right Now (Free)
Johnny Winter (Mean Town Blues, Jumpin' Jack Flash, I'm Yours and I'm Hers)

Sounds like a frustrating mess. Manic Depression, that is.

Hey, Kelly, when it rains it pours. I know you're going to be exercising a good deal of discretion about time for your family with time in music, and that you won't get wrapped up in anything that is mere straw. But what fun having choices at hand.

I'm not sure what I'd do if someone approached me with that song list. I think I have grown restive with guitar bands, but I'd give it a shot to discover how it was being handled.

I had a hilarious dream last night, a guitar player and I - must have been a power duo - were playing a gig in a theater. I was changing and realized that I was in my underwear on stage. Fortunately, I woke up before realizing I had no idea what we were going to play!

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

It's all about getting my chops mastered and getting out there for me right now. I'll get into something that takes off and I'll really enjoy. Taking Knoxville by storm.

Hmm...obviously you harbor a deep resentment for bass players. Your dream doesn't employ one, which means you blame him for running off with both your clothes and the set list.

As for bass players: I have a deep harbor I'd like to toss them in. I can play better bass parts on my drums than most of them bring to the music. I know this from the extraordinary amount of time spent practicing "in between" bass players.

It is one of the sorrows I have of not being a jazzer, since the great bass players are playing jazz, and one reason I'm pushing my abilities.

I love not having a bass player, the three of us alternate on keys which makes the bass parts different depending on who plays them.
Also leaves more room in the van, one guy gets the whole backseat. That might be the most important part!

Of course for my country gigs its a different story, you need one up there for looks...

Hijacking the thread... :D
Passing on these guys. Mostly because the stuff is too early for me, don't enjoy playing it....Cream, Hendrix, Beatles.
Some material I like...."Who's next" stuff....but the scale is too tipped.
They said they would play anything but....you can see where there heart is. Get on a gig with them later and they would be pulling this other stuff out.
The other band is gig ready anyway.
