Ha well, see how it works. You dig for one thing and come up with something else surprising.

Not the nicest finish, this fake bubinga looks nothing like the real thing, I bought a 5" birch designer with the fake bubinga and it sounded as bad as it looked.
Hope this one is better.
Must say my Lite drums with Aquarian Texture coated heads area kicking butt!

I used to feel that way.
What a see now on the market place changes my mind.
I think these are gorgeous looking, classy.
And they are "Designers". In my opinion, Sonor's last great effort.

Snares are funny, you get a dog from time to time. I don't believe this one is.
I am happy to see there is only that one lug on the shell. There's no doubt to me double lugged would certainly damper the shell more.
Looking forward to this whole kit coming home.

I like the effect of the ALPI-binga. Has a modern, Swedish, clean aesthetic that's quite different from the trubinga. A little lighter, brighter, more repetitive and therefore a better ground, in a way, to set off the chrome.

I perhaps like trubinga better because it's true, but I wouldn't let the Italian stuff stop me. The trubinga on Designers is not a nice as what was on the Sigs; probably thinner and processed differently.

The snare drum has arrived. And is absolutely stunning.
First shot out of the box, just added some moon-gel, no disappointments. I'm always scared to get a thin sounding drum, no body. Not the case.

Thank you David!! Things are always so smooth with you. You are much appreciated.

I had it tuned perfectly. Don't ever change the tuning. Don't even look at the lugs! ;)

I really miss those middle snare strands the previous owner removed. Just tape a few back on, it'll sound even better. ;)

Glad it survived the scary ordeal known as "shipping in America".

Enjoy!

Greg.... you're next! :D

I remove them anyway so, glad you didn't tape them back on.

Do you usually use Gplus on your snare? Works really well as far as I can tell so far.

G plus (G 12 now?) is what I am using on both my Designer 14 x 8's, except that they are clears that have been scuffed with a sander, to provide some texture for brushes.

Unfortunately, Evans discontinued the frosted G plus I once used some time ago.

Glad you got that snare Kelly. You will like it more every day you play it.

David, I am surprised you let it go. What is your 'go to' snare these days?
